Lickety Spit Fibre Farm ...
.. is a working farm which raises alpacas and sheep for the natural fibre that they produce. We focus on a sustainable, ethical model of farming which means that we believe that our animals are entitled to a stress-free environment, access to the outdoors, excellent nutrition, supplements that support the immune system, protection from predators and the ability to behave in a way that is instinctively natural to them. Our animals are raised without the use of hormones, and we medicate them only if necessary.
We love to create yarn and other fibre products that makers can use for their own projects. Our passion is sharing the amazing qualities of natural fibres, and promoting their lovely versatility to people of all ages.
Our fleeces milled in Canada - mostly in Ontario, and any dyeing of yarn that we do is done as environmentally-sustainable as possible. We believe in being stewards of the land we are fortunate to farm on, and so we try to keep our (hoof)prints small.
Lickety Spit Fibre Farm is a proud member producer of the Upper Canada Fibreshed, Alpaca Ontario and Ontario Sheep Farmers. We are also the founding organizer of Landmade and a founding member of The Fibre Forge.
